 Fever of Humanities

 

 These days, lots of universities and companies are dealing with 'Humanities'. We can find them in lectures and books. When we check bestsellers in bookstores, books about humanities are always in top. Then why is humanity a rising issue these days? There are three reasons I think why people are crazed for humanity these days.

 

  First, as technology increases slowly the world wants innovators, not inventors. For example, what we use these days, almost everything was invented about a hundred years ago except computer and phones. Car, plane, LED lights and what we use often have been invented a long time ago. These days, these things are just changing or developing. Inventing things stopped. Our phones, computer and car are just developing with just little functions. So, to develop new functions and make difference with other previous ones, innovators are necessary. To think different, humanities are important qualification.

 

  Next, these days most people work in service part, which means understanding other's mind is improtant. Most people are working and as time goes on. more people will work in service part. It means that we need more contact with others and what we should do is understanding their mind and fulfill their desire. So, to understand them, humanity is a way to understand them. I think this is why large companies are stressing with humanity books and lectures.

 

  Finally, companies wants us to study humanity because consumption today needs a storytelling, which is a image consumption. For instance, advertisement these days, they don't talk about their product's functions and strong points anymore. It's hard to find that kind of advertisement. Instead, companies and advertisements today, they are telling us about their values and what kind of company they are. For example, Hyundai's slogan is 'New thinking, New possibility'. They make advertisements about new possibilities. Their product doesn't appear in advertisements. If we just watch advertisement, we won't know what are they advertising. By this way, companies get consumer's trust or confidence which leads to consumption.

 

In conclusion, why people are crazed in humanity these days, I think it is related with changing age. Technology made us to innovate, not invent. Working in service part made us to understand others. Consumers wants companies to show their value. Therefore, to adapt and lead the way, humanity is a important study to be learned.
